Frequently asked questions

Here's some more information about shipping, my returns policy and the yarn. If you can't find an answer to your question, please get in touch.

I aim to post everything within five working days of your order. All parcels are tracked, and you'll receive a tracking number in your dispatch email.

UK: 48hr tracked by Royal Mail - £3.95

International: Royal Mail tracked, timescales vary - £13.80 to £17.50 (depending on location)

Delivery timescales

Check Royal Mail for up to date shipping statuses and delivery timeframes. I can't guarantee their delivery times, and I've noticed International orders can take longer than the 5-7 working days stated by Royal Mail. Please allow extra time around busy holidays (e.g. Christmas).

Missing parcels

If you think your order might be missing, please get in touch. Please check your parcel hasn't been left at a sorting office, with a neighbour, or in a designated safe place.

If you're ordering internationally (outside the UK), please check if you'll need to pay any tariffs, VAT, or custom charges in your country.

The buyer is responsible for paying any tariffs, VAT or customs charges. Sorry - I don't have the capacity to collect international taxes as a one-person business.

If parcels are returned because of unpaid fees at customs, I can only refund 50% of the value of your order, and can't refund postage. This is to cover myself against financial losses. If you have any questions, please get in touch before placing your order.

I'm sorry to say I've paused all shipping to the US.

Trump has announced the end of the 'de minimis' exemption to tariffs, effective from 29th August 2025. Previously, any parcels under the value £800 were exempt from import duty, which will no longer be the case.

I've paused all shipments to the US until I'm clearer on this issue, as it currently appears to involve significantly higher postage costs or a flat fee if I continue posting with a national carrier.

Find more detailed information about what I know so far in my blog post.

I can now ship to EU and NI again! See my dedicated GPSR page for more about my 'responsible person' and general safety information.

Allergies: see my note about allergies and dye ingredients below.

I hope you love your order, but if you're not happy, please get in touch to return it to me within 14 days of receiving it for a refund or exchange.

The products must be unused and in their original packaging. You'll need to pay the return postage costs, and any customs fees due.

Damaged or faulty items

If your order is faulty or damaged, please get in touch and I'll organise a returns label for you. I'll send you a refund once I've received your returned order.

Digital patterns

Sorry, I can't refund any digital patterns or downloads. (This includes any digital patterns that are part of a physical kit).

I use a variety of natural dyes, mordants, chemical modifiers and sheep wool fibres in my products.

Please get in touch with me before you buy any yarn if there's anything you're allergic to. I can send you a full list of what I've used to prepare and dye the skeins. It's your responsibility to check this with me and make a decision about what's safe for you.

I only dye with the more colourfast natural dyes. Dyes can fade when exposed to sunlight, but these should last well when treated with care. Some dyes, like madder and indigo, have lasted for hundreds of years!

Colour transfer and plant dust

I rinse the skeins after dyeing, but with some plant dyes you might notice small amounts of dust in your yarn, or colour on your fingers as you knit. This is called 'crocking', and is more common with indigo dye. This should only happen a small amount and wash off, as the dye pigment has already been used.

To keep your colour looking lovely, there are some principles to keep in mind:

  • Don't leave in bright, direct sunlight
  • Hand wash in cool water, using a neutral enzyme-free detergent/soap
  • Don't overwash - I think generally we wash wool far more than it needs. It's an intelligent and breathable natural fibre, and non-superwash yarn in particular does not need to be washed often at all. Usually a good air outside is enough (it's also kinder on the environment!)

I wanted ethically sourced yarn spun in the UK, free from plastic. After lots of research and testing, I've chosen some lovely, robust bases. With that said, I'm also keen to re-normalise mending of clothes when the time comes for repair! I'd much rather mend than introduce new plastic into the environment.

Your order will arrived cosied up in packaging made from recycled materials, which you can recycle or compost.
