⚘ Retreats and workshops ⚘

• We'll be knitting my Briar Shawl pattern together, with guided tutorials on the textured stitches. We'll knit a swatch, then start working on the shawl (which you can then finish at home)
• A gentle ramble in the surrounding countryside
• Fibre Folk storytelling evening event by the fireside, with professional storyteller Hannah Moore
• Making a mini wreath with dried flowers from my garden
• Nourishing homecooked food - lunch Fri-Sun and dinner on Saturday included with all tickets. If you also book accommodation, you'll have dinner included on Thursday too. On Friday night, you can explore the restaurants of Stroud, or cosy up in a local Cotswold pub.

Throughout the retreat there will be plenty of time and space by the fire to cosy up with your knitting, stitching or a book.

You can choose to order a yarn kit from me, that I'll prepare for you and bring to the retreat. All yarn is naturally dyed by me, and spun in the UK. I've chosen it to match the pattern and provide comfort and durability.

Bases: 

• Thicket DK: a Gotland/BFL blend for warmth, with a slight halo and heathered colour. I knitted my rust coloured sample in this.
• Hedgerow DK: a BFL and Masham blend - this yarn is also heathered, with a warmer mid-brown base. It's more drapey and soft, but lovely and warm.

Colours:

All of the colourways are named after different native hedgerow and briar plants. 300g of DK yarn - each bundle is £58.

1. Briar Rose (Thicket DK): a warm, dusky copper
2. Elder (Thicket DK): a copper toned burgundy/purple
3. Willow (Thicket DK): a rich gold
4. Cobnut (Thicket DK): a pale gold-toned grey
5. Catkin (Thicket DK): an olive-toned gold
6. Oak (Thicket DK): a rich, warm mid-brown
7. Hawthorn (Hedgerow DK): a dusky, warm and pale lilac
8. Catkin (Hedgrow DK): a warm grey with a hint of olive/gold
9. Buckthorn (Hedgerow DK): a warm brown with a orange/pink tones
10. Blackthorn (Hedgerow DK): a warm, deep blue
11. Natural Fleece (Hedgerow DK): undyed blend of the natural fleece colours, a mid, warm grey

My lovely friend Lucia is offering a limited number of rooms in her historic house, where we're hosting the retreat. There are a range of room sizes and prices. 

Homemade breakfast and dinner Thursday and Saturday included. 

• Blue Room: king-size private room, with ensuite and shower in the most historic part of the house | £100 / night
• Yellow Room: king-size private room, with ensuite toilet (no shower) | £90 / night
• Pink Room: single bed private room with sink, shared family bathroom | £80 / night
• Loft dormitory double bed (see below for more on dormitory rooms) | £80 / night
• Loft dormitory single beds | £70 / night

Dormitory rooms

Excitingly, Lucia is now offering a shared dormitory space in her spacious loft - the old servants' quarters for the house! The room is open plan and shaped as a large 'L' - on one side there is a double bed with a small kitchen counter, sink and kettle. On the other side are two single camp beds (very cosy, I promise). 

In between the beds there is a cosy central sitting area. You'll be using the shared family bathroom on the floor below, and the dormitory space is up two flights of (historic!) staircases. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or who finds stairs tricky. Watch the video (coming soon) to see how the stairs start in the room.

There will also be two non-residential places if you'd prefer to stay at your home and join us for the day activities and the Saturday night Fibre Folk evening.
