I'm so excited to be hosting the Winter Gathering knitting retreat next February. Join me for a long weekend to celebrate the light that can be found in the darkness of winter: a time of knitting, fireside folklore, Cotswold rambling, homegrown food, wreath making and fibre kinship. All nestled in a historic house in Stroud and the countryside around us.
Knitting and sewing retreats, with the option to book accommodation. Join me for small group teaching, seasonal food and beautiful surroundings.
One day and evening workshops - more suitable if you're local to Stroud and would prefer a day workshop to a whole retreat.
Get in touch if you'd like to book one-to-one or small group sewing sessions with me in the Cotswold area!
Join me for a long weekend to celebrate the light that can be found in the darkness of winter: a time of knitting, fireside folklore, Cotswold rambling, homegrown food, wreath making and fibre kinship.
Rebuild your energy and enjoy cosy crafts and comforting food.
Lucia and I have planned a delightful and restorative long weekend for you - during the point in winter where we long for spring. Sink back in for a little, and enjoy all that this time has to offer - folklore storytelling by the fire, homecooked stews and soups, and finding joy in our winter crafts.
All nestled in a historic house in Stroud and the countryside around.
Throughout the retreat there will be plenty of time and space by the fire to cosy up with your knitting, stitching or a book.
Each place is £399*
*This includes all the activities, the Briar Shawl pattern, lunch Friday - Sunday, and dinner on Saturday. It doesn't include accommodation, breakfast or yarn. have a read of the sections below for details 𖥧
The Briar Shawl is a triangular, DK weight shawl, with an asymmetric textured stitch pattern inspired by briar and brambly hedgerows.
You can choose to order yarn from me for your shawl, or bring your own. If you add some of mine to your basket, there'll be a little kit waiting for you when you arrive. I'll show you the textured stitches involved, and you can knit at your leisure. I'll be there in case you have any questions.
You can choose to order a yarn kit from me, that I'll prepare for you and bring to the retreat. All yarn is naturally dyed by me, and spun in the UK. I've chosen it to match the pattern and provide comfort and durability.
Bases:
Colours:
All of the colourways are named after different native hedgerow and briar plants. 300g of DK yarn - each bundle is £58.
Here's a slideshow showing some of the different kits available. Other colourways are coming soon. You can choose one from my shop when you check out for the retreat.
The colourways are numbered in the list above
My lovely friend Lucia is offering a limited number of rooms in her historic house, where we're hosting the retreat. There are a range of room sizes and prices.
Homemade breakfast and dinner Thursday and Saturday included.
Dormitory rooms
Excitingly, Lucia is now offering a shared dormitory space in her spacious loft - the old servants' quarters for the house! The room is open plan and shaped as a large 'L' - on one side there is a double bed with a small kitchen counter, sink and kettle. On the other side are two single camp beds (very cosy, I promise).
In between the beds there is a cosy central sitting area. You'll be using the shared family bathroom on the floor below, and the dormitory space is up two flights of (historic!) staircases. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or who finds stairs tricky. Watch the video (coming soon) to see how the stairs start in the room.
Local to Stroud?
There will also be two non-residential places if you'd prefer to stay at your home and join us for the day activities and the Saturday night Fibre Folk evening.
Loft dormitory
Join me for a five-week series of evening dressmaking workshops, learning how to make a pair of elasticated waist trousers using the pattern the Bob Pants. I've created it for people who'd love to start sewing their clothes for the first time, as well as makers with some sewing experience who'd like to build their skills and confidence.
You'll learn how to:
The details
It’s also a great opportunity to become familiar with your sewing machine. If you don’t have one or would struggle to transport yours, you can rent one from me.
